Talisman of the Fixed Star Spica

“Under the Spike (Spica) they made the image of a bird, or a man laden with merchandise; it conferreth riches, and maketh one overcome contentions, it taketh away scarcity and mischief.”
- Agrippa, Three Books of Occult Philosophy Bk. II, Chapter 47

First let me start off by thanking Christopher Warnock and Nigel Jackson from Renaissance Astrology site for finding this election and for the fantastic Invocation of Spica and Spica image used in my consecration rituals.

The election for the fixed start Spica had the star rising in the Midheaven from 12:00PM through 12:35PM on Wednesday August 6th, 2008. This worked out exceptionally well for me, as I am NOT a morning person, and it gave me a very effective election for a very advantageous talisman that didn’t require me to drag my sorry ass out of bed at 5AM ;)

The preparation for the creation of this talisman was a bit rushed, as I didn’t find out about the election until the night of Thursday July 31st. I decided to create a cloth banner to hang in my temple. Virtually all of the materials for the banner were obtained between Friday August 1st and Tuesday August 5th. This included fabric for the banner, paint, brushes, stencil material, a stencil cutter (which is a neat device that resembles a soldering iron), and Sage for incense. I designed the image for the banner on Monday August 4th and cut the stencils on Tuesday August 5th. Let me say I am usually not an artistic person, and I had never made a stencil before, but the entire process went very smoothly. I also have to thank my lovely and talented wife both for not thinking that I’m insane as well as for doing the actual sewing of the banner.

I performed a sortilege divination after learning of the election which showed the operation would be an unequivocal success.

Materials

The creation and consecration of the Spica Banner used a number of materials which are not normally part of my altar setup. These items were:

  • Nine green 7 1/2″ taper candles
  • Sage incense
  • Spica image
  • Green marbled cotton fabric
  • Lumiere Bright Gold acrylic paint
  • Paint brushes and stencils

Initial Creation and Consecration

The initial consecration started at approximately 11:30AM with some preparatory consecrations. The ritual used was based loosely on the Greater Key of Solomon and on Aaron Leitch’s Secrets of the Magickal Grimoires.

The black and white candles were lit, followed by the lamp.

The ritual was opened with the Prayer of Joseph the Visionary

The salt was consecrated using the following invocation:

Tzabaoth, Messiach, Emanuel, Elohim, Gibor, Yod He Vav He; O God, Who art the Truth and the Life, deign to bless and sanctify this Creature of Salt, to serve unto us for help, protection, and assistance in this Art, experiment, and operation, and may it be a succor unto us.

A pinch of consecrated salt was then added to the water. The water was then consecrated with the following:

Psalm 102
Psalm 54
Psalm 6
Psalm 67

The Sage incense was then blessed using the Incense Exorcism and Consecration.

The charcoal was lit for the burning of the incense, and blessed using the Exorcism of Fire.

Sage incense was then burned on the charcoal, and refreshed whenever the smoke began to wain throughout the ritual.

The brushes and stencils were then sprinkled with the blessed water and consecrated as follows:

Adrai, Hahlii, Tamaii, Tilonas, Athamas, Zianor, Adonai, banish from these brushes and stencils all deceit and error so that they may be of virtue and efficacy to paint all that I desire. Amen.

The paint was then sprinkled with the blessed water and consecrated as follows:

I exorcise thee, O Creature of Paint, by Anaireton, by Simulator, and by the name Adonai, and by the Name of Him through Whom all things were made, that thou be unto me an aid and succor in all things which I wish to perform by thine aid. Amen.

The cloth was then sprinkled with blessed water and consecrated with the following:

Be ye present to aid me, and may my operation be accomplished through you; ZAZAII, ZALMAII, DALMAII, ADONAI, ANAPHAXETON, CEDRION, CRIPON, PRION, ANAIRETON, ELION, OCTINOMON, ZEVANION, ALAZAION, ZIDEON, AGLA, ON, YOD HE VAU HE, ARTOR, DINOTOR holy angels of God; be present and infuse virtue into this parchment, so that it may obtain such power through you that all names or characters thereon written may receive due power, and that all deceit and hindrance may depart therefrom, through God the Lord merciful and gracious, who liveth and reigneth through all the ages. Amen.

Psalm 72
Psalm 117
Psalm 134
Benedicte Omnia Opera

I conjure thee, O Cloth, by all the Holy Names, that thou obtainest efficacy and strength, and becomest exorcised and consecrated, so that none of the things which may be scribed upon thee shall be effaced from the Book of Truth. Amen.

The nine green candles were lit.

The stencils were then applied to the cloth.

The Invocation of Spica was then recited and the banner was painted.

Once painting was completed the name of the Angel Hameliel was chanted nine times while visualizing a column of green energy flowing down from the star Spica and infusing the banner.

The sigil of Spica from Agrippa was then drawn over the banner in green flame and visualized merging into the banner.

I followed this by a time of meditation on the Spica image (shown below).

Hameliel was thanked and the candles were extinguished in the reverse order they were lit in.

The creation and blessing of the Spica banner (from the Invocation of Spica to the infusing of the sigil of Spica) all took place during the elected time between 12:00PM and 12:35PM.

Daily Consecrations

Spica image courtesy of http://www.renaissanceastrology.comAfter the initial creation and consecration eight additional daily consecration rituals were performed, for a total of nine rituals in all. After the final ritual the nine green candles were allowed to burn down completely, with a final completion when the last candle burned out at 2:35PM on August 14th 2008.

The daily consecration rituals were performed each morning at various times. The ritual itself consisted of the following procedure:

The black and white candles were lit, followed by the lamp and the nine green candles.

The ritual was opened with the Prayer of Joseph the Visionary

The charcoal was lit and blessed using the Exorcism of Fire.

The blessed Sage incense was burned and more applied to the charcoal as needed.

The Invocation of Spica was recited.

The name of the Angel Hameliel was chanted nine times while visualizing a column of green energy flowing down from the star Spica and infusing the banner.

The sigil of Spica from Agrippa was then drawn over the banner in green flame and visualized merging into the banner.

A time was spent in meditation on the Spica image (shown above).

Hameliel was thanked and the candles were extinguished in the reverse order they were lit in.

Results

At the end of the day all of this work isn’t worth the time if you don’t achieve results. I’ll keep this section updated over time as new developments arise.

  • At several times during the daily consecrations I had a clear feeling of a presence watching me.
  • On the sixth day of the consecration process my business was awarded a contract worth several thousand dollars per month.
  • UPDATE 09/17/2008: The support contract has expanded to roughly double the original amount for the third quarter, and we are on the verge of signing a seven figure development contract that will entail a six figure bonus for all of the principals in the company (including me).
  • UPDATE 03/22/2009: A bit late on the update, but we got the development contract and are working on the last deliverable now. If all goes well I should be getting my bonus sometime around July.

You made original consecration procedure. So I assume Picatrix doesn’t offer it and we have to recostruct or take from other grimoires?

    1. Quaero Lux says:

There is actually not much on the fixed stars in Picatrix. The talisman is drawn from Hermes on the Fifteen Fixed Stars which doesn’t include consecration procedures.
