I wanted to take a moment and talk about what I do magically on a daily basis. The short version is not much lol. My daily practice currently consists of a simple single point meditation focused on my breathing and an invocation of my Genius Daimon.
The single point meditation practice is fairly simple in theory, although hard to do in practice. The goal is to still all of your thoughts and focus on one thing to the exclusion of all else, in this case breathing. When the mind wanders you dismiss the distracting thought and return to focus on breathing. The breathing technique itself is also simple and not hard to do. Inhale slowly and evenly filling the diaphragm first then the lungs, hold the breath for a moment, then exhale. There’s no particular pattern, just comfortable even breaths.
The invocation of my Genius Daimon is also straight forward. The Genius’s name was calculated from my birth chart using the Daimon Name Calculator. I personally use the Greek form of the name. I have a single white candle that has been consecrated as described in this Candle Consecration post. The candle has the Genius’s name inscribed into the wax using the burin. The candle is lit and the Genius’s name is chanted three times, followed by a brief invocation that is repeated three times, followed by again chanting the Genius’s name three times.
I plan to add daily planetary invocations as well in the foreseeable future.

What effects have you noticed from this daily practice?
Thanks

Do you think there is a difference if you calculate the Daimon’s name in Greek or Hebrew or English or is a matter of preference for you?

archeus: I seem to be more focused and am getting more done in the same period of time in daily life. I’ve also noticed I’m eating more fruits and vegetables and feel inspired to lose weight and get in shape. It’s all been fairly subtle and I can’t concretely say ‘my practice caused this’, but these changes all occurred shortly after starting these practices. I hadn’t even really considered the diet and exercise as potentially related until I considered your question, but the timing fits. It’s also something I’ve seen others mention experiencing as well now that I think about it.
Josephus: My guess would be that they are different names for the same spirit. I should actually do some divination and see what the spirits have to say about it…

You should also think about adding the Perfect Nature on your daily ritual…

Hello–
Pardon if I’m intruding, but I stumbled upon this site actually looking up words for my magical name, and was trying to find different references for “between light and shadow.”
I’ve looked through a few of your entries, and I’m interested in the work you’re doing with your Daemon. I, too, have been trying to do meditation and establishing contact with my spiritual Guides. It’s been slow, but with breakthroughs here and there. I hope you don’t mind if I keep up with your journal. I’m always searching for new things to learn and experience.
If I may, I want to ask how you found out all the astrological information around your birth. I’m perplexed by the “Daimon Name Calculator” since I don’t know enough about astrology to know about degrees and houses and the like. Maybe you could help me out? :]
Anyway, thanks for your time, and any help you can give me.

Gally sorry for the delay in approving your comment, I thought I had already approved it but I hadn’t. Rufus Opus has a blog post on how to get all the values for the Daimon Calculator from your birth chart here: http://headforred.blogspot.com/2009/04/genius-and-evil-daimon-name-generator.html
archeus: Interesting, do you use the Perfect Nature invocation from Picatrix? Have you done the astrologically timed rite? If so I’d be interested to hear your results.

Quaero,
Actually no. But since Chris talked about it, and we are both on his astro course, I thought I’d recommend it.

Hi, interesting technique. I read the relevant chapter in Agrippa’s Three Books however I’m confused regarding the hebrew names as the calculator refers to them as physical and spiritual. Perhaps you could elucidate and/or point me in the right direction? Thanks. Btw, great place you have here.

These are based on the Hebrew suffixes added to the base names. Agrippa talks about this in Three Books of Occult Philosophy Book III Chapter XXV.
